Following the invention of the electric vehicle, a lot of efforts have been put into the design of the electric motorcycle. During the EICMA 2019 Motorcycle Show in Milan, horwin launched its new line of electric bikes and joined the few companies that have been able to establish electric motorcycles successfully. Horwin is the founder of the Horwin CR6 and CR6 Pro electric motorcycles. Following the launch of the two brands of electric bikes and the continued growth of the electric motorcycle industry, there have been questions about the benefits of electric bikes and what sets them apart.
Why choose an electric motorcycle over a regular motorcycle
Electric motorcycles were first established in the year 2013. Since then, the motorcycles have taken the industry by storm. The growth of this industry can be attributed to the following benefits;
- What most bike enthusiasts love about electric motorcycles is the fact that they are faster than conventional bikes. The motor of an electric bike has an instant 100% torque, which allows for maximum acceleration. The powerful engines promote the exceptional speed of the bikes.
- Another advantage that electric bikes have over conventional motorcycles is that they are eco-friendly. Electric motorcycles do not use fuel; hence they do not emit smoke, which pollutes the environment. The fact that electric motorcycles produce less sound as opposed to the latter is also a factor contributing to its eco-friendliness.
- Electric motorcycles also provide a superior riding experience for the ridders. Aspects like increased torque, less clutch and shift connection to the rear wheel, less vibration, less heat and fumes, and more speed all contribute to the superior riding experience.
- The materials used in the manufacture of electric motorcycles are lightweight hence contributing to the overall weight of the bikes. The bikes are, therefore, lighter than the non-electric motorcycles.
What sets the Horwin CR6 Pro apart from CR6
- The Horwin CR6 Pro has a motor power of 11 kW and a speed of 105 km per hour. On the other hand, the Horwin CR6 has a lower motor power of 7.2 kW and a speed of 95 km per hour. The Horwin CR6 Pro is also heavier than its counterpart.
- The CR6 Pro has a 4-kWh battery pack that is made up of battery cells from Panasonic that offer a range of 130 km at a speed of approximately 45 kilometers per hour. On the other hand, the CR6 is also powered by a 4kWh battery pack with Panasonic batteries. The difference is that this pack of batteries offers a better range of 150 kilometers.
- The CR6 Pro electric motorcycle features a CBS brake system, which allows for the electric bike to brake even in short distances by splitting the braking force between the front and the rear brake discs hence reducing the stopping distance. However, the CR6 uses an electronic braking system with discs at the front and the rear as well but not as efficient as the latter.
Bottom Line
It is clear that there are some differences between the two lines of electric motorcycles by Horwin in the areas of speed, acceleration, braking systems, and the price as well. The differences indicate that the CR6 Pro is superior to the CR6. However, both these lines of electric motorcycles offer the above advantages. Currently, both the CR6 and the CR6 Pro are available in Europe as the manufacturers (Horwin) works on expanding the accessibility to other parts of the globe.
